The National Ballet of Canada has received a prestigious award in France thanks to its 2017 tour to Paris.

L’Association Professionnelle de la Critique de Théâtre, de Musique et de Danse, a group of 140 French and international journalists, named the Toronto-based troupe Best Company of the Year on Monday for its performance of Nijinsky at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées.

The company toured the John Neumeier ballet about famous Russian dancer Vaslav Nijinsky to Paris in October. It was the ballet’s first tour to the city in 45 years, when it made its Paris debut at that very theatre.
