Little Shop of Horrors wins big at CAT Awards

Front Row Centre Players was front and centre at the 14th annual Calgary Community Theatre (CAT) Awards, which honour excellence in local community theatre.

The awards ceremony was held in the University of Calgary’s Rozsa Centre on Aug. 26, boasting a packed, enthusiastic crowd.

Front Row Centre’s production of the 1982 musical spoof Little Shop of Horrors by Alan Menken and the late Howard Ashman took home eight CAT Awards including outstanding production of a musical.

Little Shop earned its director Jeffrey Diodati a CAT for outstanding direction of a musical and its musical director Danielle Wahl a CAT for her musical direction.

Jeff Rivet who played Little Shop’s hapless florist Seymour Krelborn was named outstanding actor in a musical and Cody Field took home the award for outstanding male supporting performance in a musical for playing sadistic dentist Orin Scrivello as well as numerous cameos.
